AGV K7

By Jack Rydell

The AGV K7 combines a fixed full-face layout with touring conveniences, including an internal sun visor and a micrometric fastening. It deserves a fresh look because SHARP published a five-star result for the K7 in April 2026. This overview covers the European ECE 22.06 version and its documented equipment.

Who should consider it

Put the K7 on your fitting shortlist if you want a full-face helmet for commuting and longer road journeys, and you value built-in glare control. The practical question is whether its controls, field of view and padding suit your routine. Those are more useful checks than choosing it because its name sits above another AGV model.

A rider who regularly wants to lift the entire chin section should also try a modular helmet. The K7's fixed chin section represents a different everyday arrangement; an internal sun shield does not change that.

Features and trade-offs

AGV specifies a composite-fiber shell, six sizes and a steel micrometric closure. The technical sheet lists a supplied Pinlock 120 XLT MaxVision insert and compatibility with the Insyde communications system. Compatibility should not be read as a working intercom being included.

The manufacturer quotes 1,480 g in the smallest size. SHARP lists 1.6 kg without specifying a size on its model page. These figures are not a like-for-like weight comparison. Ask to handle the size you will actually wear, with any communications equipment included in the comparison.

What the SHARP result tells you

SHARP's K7 page records five stars and an April 2026 test date. That is an independent published result, not a Helmet Advisor score or a claim that we crash-tested the helmet. It is useful evidence to consider alongside fit and the correct regional approval. It does not answer how quiet the helmet will be behind your particular windscreen.

What to check at a fitting

Start with the manufacturer's size guidance, then keep the helmet on long enough to identify concentrated pressure. Ask the fitter to distinguish secure, even contact from a local pressure point. AGV lists five cheek-pad thickness options, so discuss approved adjustments rather than simply moving to a larger shell because the cheeks feel snug.

Bring the glasses and gloves you use. Practise the sun-visor slider, outer visor and fastening without looking down at them. Check that lowering the sun visor does not interfere with your glasses. Look forward in your actual riding posture rather than judging the view only while standing upright.

If you plan to fit communications, establish the correct kit, speaker placement and total cost before purchase. A fitting appointment is also a good time to ask about replacement visors and liners. Use our fit checklist to record the final size and approved pad configuration.

Two alternatives to try

  • Shoei GT-Air 3: compare the documented European touring version, especially control reach and the feel of its interior during the same fitting session.
  • AGV K6 S: a useful same-brand alternative when you want to compare a different full-face package. Compare the actual regional specifications rather than assuming all AGV features are shared.

Keep a short list of personal priorities: glasses clearance, fastening, replacement-parts availability and comfortable contact. A specification advantage is only valuable if it solves something you notice in use.
