Scorpion EXO-T520
By Jack Rydell
The North American Scorpion EXO-T520 combines a polycarbonate shell with touring conveniences. The current manufacturer listing identifies DOT and ECE 22.06 approvals. This overview covers that version rather than transferring specifications from similarly named European models.
This is a manufacturer-sourced buying overview; comparative road noise, cooling and comfort have not been measured here.
Who should consider it
Try this model if its documented equipment matches your riding needs and the physical fit is secure. Use the full-face buying guide to compare the shortlist.
Features and trade-offs
Its internal SpeedView sun visor, AirFit cheek-pad inflation and removable liner make it worth considering for commuting. The supplied outer shield has an anti-fog coating; do not assume a Pinlock insert is included. Scorpion specifies double D-ring fastening and preparation for the EXO-COM UClear Digital unit. Its newer LINK-1/LINK-1C unit does not fit this communication port.
What to check at a fitting
Check crown fit before inflating the cheeks. Operate both visors and vents while wearing gloves, and confirm clearance for glasses and speakers.
Our fit guide explains movement and pressure checks. For circuit use, consult the track requirements guide.
Two alternatives to try
HJC i71: another sun-visor-equipped street option to fit independently.
Bell Qualifier DLX Mips: a different approach using an external photochromic shield.
