The Shoei Hornet ADV 06 is the European adventure model with ECE 22.06 approval. Its peak, outer visor and fixed chin section are aimed at a road-and-trail setup. Keep the “06” suffix on your shortlist: the original Hornet ADV and US Hornet X2 have separate specifications.
Who should consider it
Riders looking for a European adventure helmet with a documented ECE 22.06 approval and conventional double D-ring fastening. It is also the model to investigate if you liked the original Hornet’s layout but are shopping for the newer European version.
Features and trade-offs
Shoei documents an AIM+ shell, V-460 peak, CNS-2 Pinlock visor and removable interior pads. The cheek pads have an emergency-release provision. The helmet is prepared for an intercom installation; that does not establish that a working intercom is supplied.
Check the complete seller package for the anti-fog insert, communications equipment and any fitting adjustments. There is no size-specific weight on the cited model page, so compare the actual size and configuration rather than borrowing a figure from the original Hornet.
What to check at a fitting
Start with Shoei’s size guidance, then assess crown and cheek contact with the strap adjusted. Check your forward view in your normal riding posture and practise visor operation and D-ring fastening. Bring glasses or intended goggles and ask the dealer to confirm the manufacturer-approved setup.
