Arai Quantum-X

By Jack Rydell

Pros

  • Manufacturer identifies the round oval interior
  • Manual covers removable cheek pads and comfort lining

Cons

  • Shape description still requires an in-person fitting
  • Exact approval label and size-specific weight need confirmation

The Arai Quantum-X is a North American full-face whose main fitting distinction is its round oval interior. This overview uses Arai’s model documentation and shared operating manual. It does not assign hands-on comfort, noise or safety scores.

Who should consider it

Try the Quantum-X if narrower candidates create side pressure. Arai describes its interior as shorter front-to-back and wider side-to-side than its intermediate-oval fit. That makes it a useful shape comparison, rather than a universal choice for a round-looking head.

A circumference measurement helps select the first size, but cannot settle the shape question. Try more than one candidate and keep the strap secured during the checks.

Features and trade-offs

Arai lists a PB-SCLC composite shell, VAS shield system, duct ventilation and a VAS-MV shield with a supplied Pinlock-120 insert. Confirm the contents of the specific offer, especially replacement or used-stock packages. Ventilation features describe equipment; they do not establish a measured cooling or noise advantage.

The manual explains cheek-pad and comfort-lining removal. Have the retailer identify the approved parts for your model and size before tuning the fit. A different comfort pad cannot correct an unsuitable basic shape. Exact approval revision and size-specific weight are awaiting confirmation for the helmet offered.

What to check at a fitting

  • Compare even crown contact with any concentrated forehead or temple pressure.
  • Check movement and retention with the strap adjusted, following the fitting instructions.
  • Try the shield latch and vent controls while stationary, using riding gloves.
  • Bring your glasses and usual riding hairstyle.
  • Record the model, market, size and approved pad configuration before ordering.

Two alternatives to try

The North American Arai Signet-X offers the contrasting long-oval description. Use it to compare where pressure occurs; choose only after trying both.

The U.S. Shoei RF-1400 is another fitting candidate with documented manufacturer padding options. Assess its crown fit first, then discuss approved fine adjustments. It is not an assumed shape equivalent.
